For the 4th Annual LogistiQ Golf Scramble, there were a few changes that added a surprising twist for those who were returning golfers. As always, the proceeds benefit the Ottawa Count Skilled Trades Academy (STA). The STA is a comprehensive, credit-based skilled trades program for high school juniors and seniors. This program provides not only education, but also hands on exposure to our youth, showing them the in-demand technical jobs in the trade fields right here in Ohio.
On Friday, July 10th 36 teams of four, which is a record number of teams, gathered at a new course for this scramble, Wossickett in Sandusky, Ohio. Due to continued growth and expansion, the event has found a new home about 25 miles east of their State-of-the-Art manufacturing facility, in Port Clinton, Ohio. At 7:45 am, Emily Martucci – President of LogistiQ gave the opening speech and remarks followed by firing the cannon to signal for everyone to get to their starting hole. At 8:00 am sharp, Emily Messino – Engagement & Outreach Specialist, who leads the scramble each year fired the cannon a second time to tell everyone to take their first drive of the day.
This Friday morning the weather was perfect for a round of golf. The LogistiQ scramble tends to be known for not only being a great event but also having some fun surprises at some of the holes throughout the course. This includes some pay or play games before you get to the tee box. Our staples for the last few years include Putt-Putt Like a Pro, Target Tee-Off, Golf Like a Skilled Trade, but this year there were a few new surprises. These included The Launch Pad, which was a cannon-based golf ball launcher that can give you a leg up on your drive, as well as partnerships with Twin Oast Brewing and Simple Times Mixer, both carefully placed throughout the course just in case you were in need of some beverages. If you did not want to play a game, you could tee off like normal for a $5 donation. There were also the traditional side games, as you made your way through the course, you would see the longest drive and the longest putts marked as well, with the winners receiving a prize at the end of the scramble.
Prior to the start of the scramble, during the event and at the end of the scramble, (if there are any prizes left) everyone enjoys stopping by for a little Par-Tee time! This putting green is infamously run yearly by Katherine Adams – Director of Workforce Innovation for the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation (OCIC). May the odds be with you as you pay $5 per ball, to not only practice your putting skills, but with a chance that whatever your ball hits, you win that prize.
All of the teams made their way to the shelter house upon finishing their 18th hole in the early afternoon for one last chance to purchase raffle tickets for some pretty great prizes and the 50/50 drawing. Some of the prizes included a Blackstone griddle, a patio heater, multiple Yeti coolers, a TaylorMade driver and more. Without the dedicated volunteer staff from LogistiQ, some members of our supporting partnerships, and generous sponsorships, this event would not be possible.
On Friday, September 25th, 2026, LogistiQ hosted the Ottawa County Business Advisory Council meeting in their training center where the check was presented at the meeting by Emily Messino with a value of $35,000.00, thanks to the funds raised on the day of the scramble. Emily Messino announced "this was our largest scramble to date with 36 teams, 10 of the teams consisted of vendors or suppliers, additional teams consisted of employees, local business and school officials throughout the community. We had some exciting new games and Wousickett was a fantastic host.”
